What’s up next for Dan Avington
We are celebrating the #classof2022 as they go out into the world to #bethedifference! Read on to hear more about Dan Avington’s next steps.

My name is Dan Avington, and I’m a senior studying journalism. I’m from Bensalem, Pennsylvania, a suburb just outside of Philadelphia.
Marquette has provided me with so many awesome opportunities to go out of my comfort zone, and it has exposed me to so many lifelong friends who I’ll treasure forever.
Next year I’ll be working as a media relations intern at Villanova Athletics. I’ll serve as the primary media contact for many of their Olympic sports, coordinating media requests while also creating game notes and running social media channels among many other tasks. I’m incredibly excited to return to my home state and live near my family again while getting valuable experience in the world of sports communication.
Almost all of my favorite Marquette memories have come from covering sports. I’ll never forget the trips I took to Chicago, Indiana and Texas to cover postseason tournaments. I also got to work this year’s NCAA Tournament at Fiserv Forum, which was a childhood dream. Marquette has provided me with so many awesome opportunities to go out of my comfort zone, and it has exposed me to so many lifelong friends who I’ll treasure forever.
In five years, I hope to be in the Philadelphia or Baltimore area working for a university athletic program or a professional sports team. I’d be perfectly happy with a lifelong career in either sports information or sports broadcasting, all I know is that sports are what I want to do.
